Operations Update - February 13, 2026
Property and Stations
- We have signed a lease on a facility in the Elgin area to serve as our Elgin-area Regional Station. Located near Highway 290 and Highway 95, the site will house one 24-hour ambulance and the north-area Field Supervisor. We continue to look for property for a permanent site location to build a station.
- Architectural work is underway for our Bastrop Regional Station. We hope to be breaking ground in late Summer. The property is located near the Bastrop County Tax Office in Bastrop.
- Engineering site plans are in progress for the future location of our Administration and Logistics facility. It is located across from our Bastrop Regional Station.
- We are working with several community partners, exploring options for co-location on their existing sites. This would be an efficient means of meeting community needs. We hope to have some news soon on this.
- Our current leased administration facility is a busy place these days. In addition to our staff of five, we have a constant stream of first responders, potential vendors, prospective employees, and others coming through. We have established a supply depot in our four-bay garage for our non-climate controlled supplies. This will be “logistics central” for stocking the ambulances as they roll in from Frazer this summer.
Staffing and Hiring
- In early January, we welcomed two new staff members: Kelly Curry joined the team to oversee infrastructure, technology, and procurement. Kelly has a strong history of delivering construction and infrastructure projects on time and on budget. Kelly is a former long-time paramedic and maintains his credentials as a Register Nurse. Crystie Shibley serves as the District’s Office Manager. Crystie joined the District after an eight year tenure with Texas Parks and Wildlife. Crystie also supports the District’s Board of Commissioners with agency, minutes and other records-related responsibilities.
- We are in the final stages of interviewing for our top Clinical role. We are hoping to make an announcement by the end of the month.
- We are currently recruiting for our Communications Center Manager. The job is posted on our website. We are looking for an experienced comm center leader, with specific background in CAD management, building a team and accreditation.
- Recruitment of Field Supervisors will begin in early April. We will be seeking six clinically strong, operationally capable leaders with strong people/coaching skills. This group will form an important core field leadership team. They will have strong roles and input in the hiring process for the larger body of field staff. We are targeting a mid-June start date for this team.
- Field staff positions will be posted in late April or early May. We will be hiring a total of 60 field positions. Our units will be staffed with one paramedic credentialed as the In Charge role, and an Attendant role certified at the EMT, Advanced or Paramedic level.
- Concurrently, we will be recruiting ten communications positions. Our Communications Specialists will need to be EMD and preferably EMT certified.
