ESD Hires Don Rose as Director of Clinical Services
Don Rose will be joining Bastrop County ESD #3 as our Director of Clinical Services. In his role, Don will oversee our clinical practice in partnership with Dr. Abadi. This includes credentialing and authorization of personnel, protocol management and clinical performance improvement. In addition, he will oversee our team of Field Supervisors and field personnel and share operational oversight with the rest of the leadership team.
Don’s EMS career spans 25 years. He started his journey working in the Medic One system in the Seattle area. In 2008, he relocated to Texas and became a Field Paramedic with Austin Travis County EMS. He has served as a traditional Paramedic, Field Training Officer, and DMR Team Member with multiple EMTF skill sets. He promoted to Captain in April of 2012 and holds advanced practice credentials.
Don has spent the past seven years assigned to the department’s training center and academy where he successfully implemented video laryngoscopy, launch of the ATCEMS in-house Paramedic Training Program, implementation of the department’s first ever Cadaveric Specimen Training Lab in partnership with M2M Labs, initial launch and CE support of the Advanced Practice Paramedic credential (PL6), content creation and instruction of multiple semesters of robust clinical education. He also led their new hire and promotional academy classes and has managed the FTO / FTEP program.
Outside the department he holds current Flight Paramedic credentials with Air Methods Corporation. He has significant previous experience as an ALS Instructor and Clinical Coordinator at Emergency Management Training Service Academy.
Don and his wife Amber currently reside in Georgetown with their family and pups. The anticiapte relocating to Bastrop County in the future. Don will join the team on March 23rd.
