Dr. Zach Mauro

Position: Medical Director

Dr. Zach Mauro, DO, EMT-P, is fellowship-trained in both Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medical Services (EMS), bringing nearly two decades of prehospital and emergency medicine experience to Bastrop County ESD #3.

His path into emergency medicine began in 2006, following in his mother's footsteps into EMS. He became an EMT in 2007 and a paramedic in 2010. Dr. Mauro went on to serve as Chief Resident during his residency with the Henry Ford Health System near Detroit before completing an EMS Fellowship at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

Most recently, he practiced in the Boston, Massachusetts, area before returning to the county where he began his medical career and to the Central Texas region he proudly calls home. Bastrop County is where his family resides, and he is eager to provide outstanding, high-quality prehospital care to the community.

When he's not on shift, Dr. Mauro enjoys cooking, spending time outdoors—especially near the water—traveling, tending to his plants, and spending time with friends and family.
