In March 2026, the ESD named Don Rose as our Director of Clinical Services. In his role, Don oversees our clinical practice in partnership with Dr. Abadi. This includes credentialing and authorization of personnel, protocol management, and clinical performance improvement. In addition, he oversees our team of Field Supervisors and field personnel and shares operational oversight with the rest of the leadership team.

Don’s EMS career spans 25 years. He begins his journey working in the Medic One system in the Seattle area. In 2008, he relocated to Texas and became a Field Paramedic with Austin Travis County EMS. He serves as a traditional Paramedic, Field Training Officer, and DMR Team Member with multiple EMTF skill sets. He was promoted to Captain in April of 2012 and holds advanced practice credentials.

Don has spent the past seven years assigned to the department’s training center and academy, where he successfully implemented video laryngoscopy, launched the ATCEMS in-house Paramedic Training Program, implemented the department’s first-ever Cadaveric Specimen Training Lab in partnership with M2M Labs, and supported the initial launch and continuing education for the Advanced Practice Paramedic credential (PL6). He also created and instructed multiple semesters of robust clinical education, led new hire and promotional academy classes, and managed the FTO/FTEP program.

Outside the department, he holds current Flight Paramedic credentials with Air Methods Corporation and has significant previous experience as an ALS Instructor and Clinical Coordinator at Emergency Management Training Service Academy.
