District Software Selections

Software Selections

In a previous post, we overviewed various clinical technologies that will be used by our paramedics and EMTs to assess and treat patients in our care.    This week, we wanted to tell you more about the software selections we have made that will drive our administrative, clinical, and operational processes.

 ESO EHR

ESO’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) will be our patient care documentation system.  ESO is an Austin-based health technology company that serves the EMS, fire and hospital markets.  Their EHR product is used by 4000+ agencies across the country.   It is known for intuitive workflows that enable real-time documentation.   The system integrates with our computer aid dispatch software, heart monitors and other applications to reduce redundant data entry and errors.

ESO Health Data Exchange (HDE)

HDE is a bidirectional data exchange with area hospitals.   The EMS patient care record is transmitted to the hospital for import into their EMR.   They use the EMS record for continuity of care and quality purposes.   In return, they send a wealth of information including demographics, billing information and clinical outcome data (diagnosis, disposition, length of stay, imaging results, lab results, etc).   This information assists paramedics in evaluating their care and we will use it to drive system performance improvement.

Logis IDS

Logis Integrated Decision Support (IDS) will be our computer-aided dispatch application.   Logis is used by dispatchers to intake 911 calls, determine what resources to send, and track the response.   Logis examines historical call data (time of day, day of week) to forecast future call volume and where to position EMS units.   The data from Logis helps us forecast long-term resource needs as well.

Aladtec

We have selected Aladtec as our scheduling and timekeeping for our crews.   Aladtec offers a mobile experience to enable employees to access their schedule, request time-off, do shift trades, and pick up shifts on the go.   Our scheduler will be able to broadcast any open shifts, using a variety of priorities.   Beyond scheduling and timekeeping, Aladtec offers a service inquiry workflow and tracking system that allows you to enter, investigate, resolve and trend  compliments, complaints and other occurrences.

Pulsara

The State of Texas provides Pulsara to EMS agencies.  Pulsara is used by EMS crews to communicate patient information to hospitals during transport.  It is also used to coordinate situational awareness in mass casualty  incidents.

PSTrax

Keeping track of disposable supplies and medical equipment is an important task.  PSTrax will be our inventory management, asset tracker, ambulance readiness check lists, controlled substance tracking and auditing software.

FOAMFrat

We have signed on with FOAMFrat as our learning management system.   We believe FOAMFRAT has the widest and mostcurrent content, as well as  the best user experience of all the available online CE options.   Their standard package includes live as well as self-paced learning.  They have robust critical care and evidence-based offerings, all of which are included in the package.  Any of our staff with critical care certifications could receive 100% of their recertification content using FOAMFRAT.

EMS|MC

We have contracted with EMS Management Consultants (EMS|MC) to handle our billing services for EMS services.   They also provide a strong software package for us to understand our transport revenue.

Together, these platforms create an integrated and modern technology ecosystem that supports our clinical performance, operational efficiency, crew experience, and long‑term strategic planning.
