Another Big Milestone Achieved

DSHS - Provider License Certificate
Last Wednesday, the Texas Department of State Health Services was on site to conduct our Provider License site visit and ambulance inspections. We are pleased to announce that we passed with no deficiencies. Yesterday, we were able to download our Provider License certificate – we are official!
What does this mean?
In Texas, all EMS agencies must complete a rigorous process to obtain a license to operate as an ambulance service. This process includes submitting plans (staffing, quality improvement, supply security and temperature regulation, and much more), policies and procedures, protocols, and much more. In addition, DSHS inspects your ambulance to ensure it meets or exceeds the State minimum standards. As the remainder of the fleet arrives in late summer, they will be stocked with supplies and will also need to be inspected.
So, what happens next?
The provider license is the first step in the overall regulatory process. With this in hand, we can now pursue our National Provider Identification Number, our Medicare and Medicaid enrollment, and our DEA Controlled Substance License, along with several other smaller, required process steps.
We are thrilled with the progress thus far. We remain on schedule for our transition timeline, which will enable us to begin operations on October 1.
